YinYue·Sifu Designer Scenic Inn (Lijiang Flagship Store)

Great location — a quiet spot, but right around the corner is the main street with lots of restaurants. Very close to the old town's east gate. A taxi can drop you at the entrance of the lane, then it's just thirty metres on foot. Modern room design, and there's a courtyard. Service was very warm — they helped carry our luggage from the crossroads. When it started raining, they messaged us on WeChat to say umbrellas were available in the common area. Very quiet at night. Very happy — we extended our stay by two more days on the spot. Recommended.

The little service details at this guesthouse genuinely amazed me! At check-in we found a humidifier in the room, which was such a thoughtful touch given how dry Lijiang's air can be. Staff were warm and professional, and helped us book tickets to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain — everything went perfectly, they even arranged oxygen canisters for us. Tickets to the 'Impression Lijiang' show were front-row too, the performance was breathtaking. During our stay we even tried making our own pu-erh tea, and the tea cakes we ended up with made the best souvenir, very memorable. The tea shop they took us to turned out to be an old established local brand; the pu-erh we bought has a rich aroma and a long finish. I drink it every day now and it makes me happy. Already recommended this guesthouse to my colleagues!

The hotel is right in the old town, and staff kindly meet guests outside the town limits. Luggage gets delivered to the hotel too. Once you arrive, you step into a completely different world: flowers, plants and fish swimming in the pond create a calm, elegant atmosphere. The courtyard is quite large, and the kids loved it, felt right at home. A genuinely great experience, and we'll definitely stay again if we get the chance. We'll also recommend it to friends and family planning to visit Lijiang. 👏👏👏

This hotel, in the northern part of Lijiang Old Town, suits people who don't mind hauling their own luggage. The old town's cobbled streets will make you question your life choices, though. The owner offered to help carry bags in for 20 yuan, but the hotel doesn't provide free luggage assistance. There was also mould in the room, and the overall impression wasn't great. The room was especially small, making it hard to move around even with two suitcases open on the floor. No paper slippers were provided, and I didn't even risk wearing the house slippers they gave us. The bulbs above the bathroom mirror were broken, and there were only tea bags in jars, another letdown. The laundry room was also very basic; every bulb in there was broken, so I had to use my phone flashlight to do laundry. Complaints at reception went nowhere. I'd read reviews mentioning attentive butler service, but I never saw that during my stay. Reception was often empty; when I asked for help, no one was around, which pointed to understaffing. After we complained about the unsanitary conditions, the butler did compensate us. After we arrived, they did help arrange a luggage cart free of charge to check bags for our onward trip. Since my mum was staying four nights, they also arranged a car to take us back to Lijiang high-speed rail station.

Date: April 1-3, 2026. 1. Wouldn't recommend this place if you're travelling with elderly relatives. The hotel is deep in a lane, up a hill/slope — hard going both ways (it's in some kind of market alley, hence the slope). 2. The owner was extremely unfriendly — he came up to show us to the hotel but literally ran ahead, we couldn't even keep up — and wasn't willing to accommodate any requests. 3. I'd booked a family room with a double bed and a tatami — the bed was disgustingly dirty, with hair and a lot of dust on it. I asked for a single mattress and was willing to pay extra, but the owner wasn't cooperative at all, kept repeating that all rooms were booked and there were no extras. 4. Amenities were okay, not the best. 5. The exterior looks good, but cleanliness could be better. 6. You'll need a translation app, since the owner doesn't speak English.
