Huangshan Shilin Hotel

The room was small but clean and I appreciated the shoe dryer and free laundry facilities after a wet hike up the mountain. The Han dress experience was fun for 20 rmb. What stood out was the friendly and professional service by the staff. The dinner buffet had a good selection although spendy. However I understand that much of the food is carried by porters up the mountain so costs are understandably higher. The location is near more than one good sunrise viewpoint and this made my visit special.

I'm especially grateful to our housekeeper, Junjie, for this trip to Huangshan. He communicated with me about the weather before we left and provided very practical hiking routes, saving me a lot of trouble in planning the trip.

Right across from Beihai Hotel, just a short walk downhill. Great value for money, affordable prices, and excellent service. There's a butler to guide you to watch the sunrise and sunset. It's very close to Qingliangtai, even closer than Beihai Hotel. In the evening, there are interactive performances with gifts – very simple, good for those with kids.

About 30min walk from Yangu cable station so bring a day pack only for an overnight stay. Hotel amenities include a dental kit, shower cap, hairband and comb. A thick coat is in the room if needed. Breakfast buffet is good. I did not eat at the dinner buffet (160 yuan per pax), I brought some food with me and there are snack stands nearby. There were no group tours when I visited but hotel provides a good map and recommendations where to watch sunset and sunrise. Can recommend

The hotel has a great location, not far from the main attractions. It is very clean and tidy, with fully equipped facilities and a pleasant environment. The staff are warm and welcoming, and best of all, they organize daily sunrise and sunset viewing tours for guests.

We had an incredible two-night stay at Shilin Hotel with a friend. The hotel is a solid 5-star choice, but the staff are the real stars here. They were exceptional from start to finish. They anticipated our needs before we even asked. • Thoughtful Touches: We were surprised with a fruit basket and a tea welcome gift upon arrival. • Sunrise Pros: They provided constant updates on the weather and sunrise/sunset visibility. When we mentioned wanting coffee before our sunrise hike, they immediately helped us find a solution. • Going the Extra Mile: After a long day of hiking, they offered us a complimentary footbath. It was the most thoughtful gesture and so revitalizing! • Comfortable Stay: Our twin room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff's dedication to making our trip perfect was amazing. They made us feel so welcome and cared for. I highly recommend Shilin Hotel and can't wait to return.

The service was exceptional—every request was promptly met, and the environment was lovely. I will definitely choose to stay here again and recommend it to my friends. It's just a 5-minute walk to Qingliang Pavilion to watch the sunrise. Absolutely fantastic!

Good place to stay in beihai area. Not far to see the monkey watching the sea. Warm welcoming and the staff help you contacting the porters to carry bags to another hotel.

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I arrived pretty late in the evening, just as their complementary tour to the sunset watching location was leaving the lobby. The staff allowed me to quickly drop off my bag and join them, and I returned to the hotel afterwards. I was greeted by the butler Xiao Xiang, who not only took his time to carefully explain the hotel facilities, but also gave me a map of the mountain and gave me suggestions about locations I would most likely see the sunrise the following morning. He then personally guided me to my room and gave me an orientation of the amenities. The room came with warm jackets I could use when going outside, and I was also given a free gift of some fancy local tea. The bed was very comfortable and the little heater near the foot of the bed kept me toasty and warm through the night. The water temperature was amazing and actually too hot at times. Call me impressed for a place at the very top of the mountain! I would advise others to remove the toilet paper roll from the holder and put it outside the wet room to prevent the paper from getting splashed when you take a shower. On the 3rd floor there is a laundry room and machine for drying shoes and it's all FREE. Amazing omg. On one side the hotel is conveniently located near the medical clinic, convenience store, and snack shop. On the other side is the trail to some of the best places to see the sunrise. I was cautioned that the weather report for the following morning forecasted clouds and light rain, but I was lucky enough to catch the sunrise before the weather worsened. When I returned to the hotel, I immediately went in for the complementary breakfast. It was mostly Chinese food but I really enjoyed the local cuisine. I recommend that you try the thing they call corn pudding (it's not pudding at all but it's really good, whatever it is), and the noodle soup (add a few slices of the spicy beef next to it for maximum flavor). As I was eating, I noticed a staff member really diligently refilling utensils and helping a family manage their rowdy kids. Amazingly it was butler Xiao Xiang, out of uniform! Do these guys work 24 hour shifts? Anyways, I was really happy with my stay, and I will very likely book this hotel again the next time I return to Huangshan.
