Fiji is an archipelago of more than three hundred islands in the southern Pacific: white sandy spits, turquoise lagoons, corals off the shore and villages where you will be greeted with the word "bula". A holiday in Fiji is most often chosen for a quiet beach, snorkeling and diving rather than for busy excursions.
An independent trip to Fiji is built around two hubs: Nadi airport (the country's main gateway) and the resort islands nearby — Denarau, Mamanuca and Yasawa. You can reach them by boat, ferry or seaplane; connections are worth planning in advance, because there are no direct flights from Russia.
Why independently
- Your own island. You choose yourself: a family resort on Denarau, a quiet island in the Mamanucas or a budget hostel in the Yasawas.
- Price and flexibility. Booking without an intermediary lets you compare categories and seasons rather than buy a ready package.
- The underwater world. Reefs, soft corals and diving are the main reason to fly so far.
When is it best to go
The dry and cooler season is from May to October: less rain, a calm sea, good underwater visibility. From November to April it is hotter and more humid, and the risk of cyclones rises — check the Fiji Meteorological Service forecast before the departure date.
Visa and entry
Check the entry conditions for Russians, the necessary documents and the length of stay on the official websites of Fiji's immigration service and with the airline before buying tickets — the rules may change.
Where to stay
- Denarau and Nadi — closest to the airport, resorts, families with children
- Mamanuca — islands with lagoons an hour or two from Nadi
- Yasawa — remote islands, snorkeling and hostels
- The Coral Coast — beaches and resorts on the way to Suva
- Taveuni and Savusavu — northern islands, diving and nature
