AsiaRoutes is an independent project for people who travel to Asia on their own. This page describes how we prepare our materials, where we get our facts and what we do when we find a mistake.
How we prepare our materials
- Sources. We check entry rules, schedules, fares and opening hours against the official websites of immigration services, carriers, national parks and weather services, as well as local media and travelers’ forums. If there is no reliable source, we do not give a figure — only the caveat “check on the official website”.
- Fact-checking. Every article goes through a separate proofreading pass: we check visa conditions, prices, dates, names, distances and links. Disputed and outdated data is removed or given with a source and a date.
- Automated tools. When preparing texts, we use software tools for drafts and data collection. The decision on what to publish, and the final fact-check, are made by the editorial team.
- No invented experience. We do not attribute to the editorial team trips that never happened, and we do not publish made-up reviews. The reviews on hotel pages are real guest reviews from open sources; if there are no real reviews, we say so.
How hotel pages are built
Hotel descriptions are compiled from accommodation data (location, rooms, amenities, ratings by criteria) and guest reviews. Prices are not fixed in the text: the current cost for the selected dates is shown in the booking block. We do not hide the downsides: if the data shows a weak point, it is stated.
Accuracy
Entry rules, prices and schedules change. In materials where this matters, we state the date of verification, and we review key pages. Always check the terms with the primary source before you travel.
Affiliate links and independence
The service is free for readers. We may receive a commission when you follow links to booking sites and buy a service there; the price does not change for you. Partnership does not affect which facts we publish or what we write about shortcomings. Advertising materials are labeled.
Photos
We take illustrations for countries and articles from sources with a permissive license (for example, Unsplash and Wikimedia Commons) and credit the author wherever the license requires it. Hotel photos are provided by the accommodation platforms.
