About the place
Sigiriya, or Lion Rock, is an ancient rock fortress in the centre of Sri Lanka, on the UNESCO World Heritage list. In the Trip.com description it is given the role of “giant rocks that will shake you to the depths of your soul”, and according to the service it is the country’s second most important place in the “Must-visit” selection.
The area is open from 05:00 to 18:30, so it is convenient to start a tour early in the morning. The tour cards from Kandy give from 6 to 12 hours, from Colombo from 10 to 16 hours, because the road takes a significant part of the day.
