Question 1

Do Russians need a visa for Bali in 2026?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but it is easy to get: a visa on arrival (VoA) for 30 days costs 500,000 IDR (about 35 USD), payable at the airport by card or in cash. It can be extended once for another 30 days. It is more convenient to get the electronic e-VoA online in advance; it can also be extended online, without visiting the immigration office. You need a passport valid for at least 6 months and a return or onward ticket. Check the current rules before you fly.

Question 2

How many days do I need in Bali?

Accepted Answer

For a first visit, 8–10 days is comfortable: the south, Ubud and a couple of trips to temples and waterfalls. In 5–6 days you will see the main sights, but the pace will be tight. For surfing and the neighboring islands, plan two weeks.

Question 3

When is the dry season in Bali?

Accepted Answer

The dry season lasts roughly from April to October, the best time for beaches and surfing. The wet season (November–March) is hot, with short downpours, but it is greener and cheaper. Prices peak in July–August and over the New Year holidays.

Question 4

Ubud or Canggu: where should I stay?

Accepted Answer

Ubud means jungle, rice terraces, yoga and culture, a quiet stay away from the sea. Canggu is surfing, cafés and an active social scene by the ocean. Many people split the trip: a few days in Ubud and the rest on the coast.

Question 5

How can Russians pay in Bali?

Accepted Answer

Russian Visa and Mastercard cards do not work. The main method is cash in rupiah: withdraw it from ATMs with a UnionPay card (if you have one) or bring dollars/euros to exchange at licensed exchange offices (avoid street ones with the “best rate”, where people cheat with the change). Many cafés, villas and rental shops accept cash only. Plan a reserve of cash.

Question 6

Do I need insurance and an eSIM for Bali?

Accepted Answer

Medical insurance is highly advisable: after a motorbike accident or health problems, treatment is paid and expensive. For internet, use an eSIM (activated online before departure) or a local SIM (Telkomsel) at the airport; coverage in the south and in Ubud is good.

Question 7

How do I get from Russia to Bali in 2026?

Accepted Answer

There are no direct flights. You fly with a connection via Istanbul, Doha or Dubai, as well as through Asian hubs; there are more and more budget options via Jakarta. A trip with one connection usually takes 15–20 hours. You can compare routes in the “Flights” section.

Question 8

Is Bali safe for tourists?

Accepted Answer

Bali is safe, and the main risk is the roads: renting a scooter without experience, a license or a helmet often ends in injuries (and a refused insurance claim). Look after your belongings on the beaches, beware of scams when exchanging currency, and do not touch the monkeys in Ubud: they bite and steal things.

Question 9

Do I need vaccinations for Bali?

Accepted Answer

There are no mandatory vaccinations. Hepatitis A and typhoid are recommended; rabies (dogs and monkeys) is worth discussing separately with a doctor, and contact with animals is best avoided. There is a risk of dengue, so use repellents. This is general information; a doctor will give specific recommendations.
