About this hotel

Wulin Jingyu Tingyuan Hotel occupies the 20th floor of the Haihua Plaza business centre on Jianguo North Road in Gongshu District, by Baoshan Bridge metro station — the Grand Canal, the Zhejiang Museum of Natural History and the Van Gogh Star Sky Art Museum are all close by. Hangzhou railway station is 5 km away.

Some of the rooms are done in tatami style, and the floor-to-ceiling windows on the upper floors look out over the canal and the city from above. Guests who come here regularly on business call the hotel a second home — they mention the quiet, the comfortable mattresses and the strong water pressure in the shower.

Who it suits: business travellers who value quiet, a high view over the canal and a convenient location by the metro, away from the tourist bustle.

On the downside, the underground car park is small and the spaces served by the lift are extremely narrow, so on busy days there may be nowhere to park. There are complaints about weak heating while the air conditioning is running, noise from the plumbing at night and a smell in some rooms. Some guests describe breakfast as average — do not expect much variety.

Close to the metro station, within walking distance, if you come by taxi along the restricted streets. The lady on reception picked out an excellent room with a lovely view of the canal below. The tatami room I had booked was good too: the bed linen was clean and neat and the mattress comfortable enough. Excellent shower fittings with very strong water pressure, which is very handy for washing long hair. The price is reasonable too. All in all, very good, I would recommend it. I did not wake up for breakfast, so I cannot say what it was like, haha.

Facilities: excellent. Cleanliness: excellent. Location: great view from the window. Service: very good attitude from the staff. Overall: none of the things people write about in the bad reviews turned out to be true. The room was very clean and the service was excellent — I would recommend staying here to anyone!

The hotel is on the 20th floor of the Hai Hua building, next to the Grand Canal. Reception was professional and quick. The room had floor-to-ceiling windows with a beautiful view from up high. The room was spacious, bright, clean and tidy.

As I travel on business a lot, this hotel has become a second home for me. The service is always excellent and very attentive, the rooms are clean and quiet, and the location is convenient. I stay here every time with complete peace of mind. As always, I would recommend coming back.

A stay on a business trip that went perfectly. The hotel is conveniently located, so getting to and from meetings was very easy. The room was clean, tidy, quiet and comfortable — nothing got in the way of working or resting. The bedding was comfortable and I slept very well. Check-in was quick and professional, the reception staff were attentive and friendly, and the hotel's general facilities fully met my needs on a business trip. Excellent value for money; I will definitely choose this hotel again next time. Strongly recommended.

What they complained about

The service is so-so, breakfast is average, the setting does not impress either, and the value for money clearly is not great. Parking is not very convenient and, most importantly, cleanliness leaves something to be desired as well. Maybe I am too fussy? If you are not chasing a bargain, you could try staying here. There are not many places to eat nearby. All in all, no particular advantages and no serious drawbacks.

The room looks decent, but it is not fit to actually stay in. There is a strong smell as soon as you walk in. The air conditioning ran all night but there was no heat at all. On top of that it was very noisy. The soundproofing is especially bad — you can clearly hear the children and adults below; far too noisy.

Everything was really bad. There are no decent restaurants nearby. The main drawback is the constant noise from the plumbing. You can hear running water all night. I would never choose this hotel again.

This was an absolute disaster! In all these years I have never had such a terrible business or leisure trip. 1. The underground car park at the plaza is very small, just a few spaces. The spaces served by the lift are extremely tight; ordinary cars got stuck. I had to drive back up several times looking for a space, and after several attempts there was still nothing free. In the end I parked on the ramp in the underground car park. When I arrived in the morning there were no spaces, and there were still none after lunch. 2. The room windows faced west. Yesterday the maximum temperature in Hangzhou was 20°C. The room was poorly ventilated, so it got very hot inside. Worst of all, the hotel had no air conditioning. Reception said this was because the building can only run one type of air circulation at a time — either cold or hot — and at the moment it is only hot. In the end they gave us a fan, but even with it on, the three of us in short sleeves were far too hot. I ended up with heatstroke, can you believe it? I went to a concert that evening feeling washed out and with a splitting headache, and ruined a concert ticket that cost more than 2,000 yuan. 3. The hotel is on the 20th floor and food delivery is only allowed after 8 p.m. You have to have it left in the storage locker on the ground floor and collect it yourself. It was already so hot that I was dressed very lightly, and I had to put all my clothes back on before going down for each takeaway order! I had to go out several times, once for every delivery! 4. Breakfast was so-so; the fried dough sticks and the other dishes were cold and the choice was very limited. Just about tolerable. In any case, given another chance I would not stay here, not even if you paid me 100 yuan.

Sorry, but for the price the facilities are dated and there is practically no service. Breakfast was so bad you would be better off skipping it altogether.
