Question 1

Do Russians need a visa for Japan in 2026?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there is no visa-free entry for tourists. Since February 12, 2026, applications in Moscow and St. Petersburg are accepted only through JVAC visa centers. The visa itself is free; you only pay a service fee (about 970 ₽). For tourism, a single-entry visa is issued for specific dates (usually 15 or 30 days of stay); a 3-year multiple-entry visa is also available. You will need a hotel booking, an itinerary and proof of funds; processing takes from 4 working days. Apply in advance and check the current requirements.
