Vinpearl Safari and VinWonders on Phu Quoc: tickets and hours

In the north of Phu Quoc island, in the Bai Dai area, two parks stand side by side: Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc and VinWonders Phu Quoc. They are searched for with queries such as “Phu Quoc safari tickets”, “VinWonders Phu Quoc”, “Phu Quoc parks for children” and “Phu Quoc water park”. If you have one day, choose by the age of the children: the safari suits little ones and animal lovers, VinWonders suits teenagers and those who want slides.

Vinpearl Safari: animals and shows

The safari is a large zoo with open enclosures, where you can see the animals up close on a bus ride, feed them in separate zones and watch shows. The park works on conservation and education, and is called the largest zoo in Vietnam for wildlife conservation. It is open from 9:00 to 16:00, with entry ending at 15:00, so you have only about five to six hours in hand. The midday heat is strong, so the most interesting hours are the first half of the day.

VinWonders: slides, a water park and a dolphinarium

VinWonders is an amusement park of about 170,000 square metres. It has roller coasters, a tall rotating ride, a bumper-car track, a water park and a dolphinarium for 3,000 spectators. It is open from 9:00 to 19:30, with entry until 18:30. To combine it with the evening sky, keep the Ferris wheel or a walk along the embankment for sunset. The park is large, and going on the rides without queues takes at least five hours.

Tickets, how to get there and how to avoid queues

Tickets can be booked online in the catalogue below and paid for by Russian card in roubles: you get a QR code, which you show at the entrance. Combo tickets for both parks are often sold. It is about 25–30 minutes by taxi or Grab from Duong Dong to Bai Dai, and 20–25 minutes from the airport. Many hotels arrange a shuttle, so ask at reception.

Queues start at the ticket office and at the most popular slides after 11:00. Arrive at opening at 9:00 and go first to the slides and the water park, leaving the shows and the dolphinarium for the second half of the day. At the safari the longest queues for the bus are from 10 to 12 o’clock.

How to plan the day if you have children

With children under seven it is easier to start with the safari: the bus ride, feeding the giraffes and the show take 3–4 hours and do not require running between zones. Lunch in the shade, then a rest at the hotel and an evening stroll on the embankment. It makes sense to leave VinWonders for another day: to go through all the zones with the slides, the water park and the dolphinarium you need more than six hours. For teenagers it is the other way round: start with the slides before the queues and at 13:00 move to the water park while it is hottest outside. If you need to save money, take a combo for both parks and spread the visits over two days: that way it is easier to rest and avoid the peak of visitors.

Restrictions and tips

• Clothing. At the safari: closed shoes, a hat and repellent. At the water park you need a swimsuit or trunks and a change of clothes; jeans and shorts with pockets are banned.
• Children. Many slides have height and age restrictions, and little ones are better off at the safari, where there is little height.
• What is not allowed. Drones are banned, and outside food and drink is often not allowed. Do not feed the animals outside the special zones.
• Rain and season. The best time is November to April. From May to October heavy rain often falls after lunch, and the rides are closed.
• Passport. Not needed at the entrance, but bring a copy for booking and transport.
• A day for each park. Do not try to see both parks in one day: the safari closes early, and VinWonders takes time.
