Vietnam's most expensive hotels: Amanoi, Four Seasons The Nam Hai, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay and Con Dao, Capella Hanoi, Banyan Tree Lang Co — nightly prices, character and guest reviews.

In Vietnam people are used to valuing simple food for two dollars and a guesthouse in an alley for ten. But the country has a second side that few know about: bays that cannot be reached by road, islands where a single resort takes up the whole shore, and city hotels hidden behind the façades of colonial mansions. A night in such places costs from forty-five to a hundred thousand roubles and more, and the difference between them is not only in price but in character. One hotel is quiet and views of a boundless bay, another an opera house in miniature in the very centre of Hanoi, a third an island with a national park and turtles. This article covers Vietnam’s most expensive hotels according to Trip.com data at the time of collection: Amanoi in the south, Four Seasons The Nam Hai in Hoi An, Six Senses in Ninh Van Bay and on Con Dao, Capella Hanoi in the capital and others. We explain what you pay for, how to choose and what pitfalls appear in real guest reviews.

Why Vietnam is a luxury destination

The country stretches along the sea for almost fifteen hundred kilometres, and the coast is rich in bays, peninsulas and islands that suit private resorts well. International brands — Aman, Six Senses, Four Seasons, Banyan Tree, Capella — have invested in projects where the main resource is the place: rocky headlands, bays with clean water, national parks. To these have been added city hotels in historic buildings and modern wellness resorts with spa programmes included. Prices reflect remoteness, the cost of logistics (boats, helicopters, transfers) and a high level of service: there are several members of staff for each guest. For more on the calendar of events that affects prices read the overview Vietnam in 2027.

Amanoi: Vinh Hy Bay and a national park

Amanoi is the most expensive hotel in Vietnam in our database (about 101 thousand roubles a night) and one of the most secluded. It stands on a peninsula in Nui Chua National Park, by Vinh Hy Bay in Khanh Hoa province: mountains and jungle on one side, the ocean on the other. The Aman philosophy applies here: space, quiet, a minimum of ostentatious luxury. Guests write of impeccable service, tasty breakfasts and of how different weather — from rain to shining sun — creates different “versions” of the hotel. One guest notes that the sea view is beautiful but the beach is “so-so”. The guest rating is 4.9, the “hotel health” by our data is 4.7. More in the article Amanoi and on the hotel page.

Six Senses: Ninh Van and Con Dao

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay is a resort in an enclosed bay near Nha Trang: it can be reached only by boat, and the villas are scattered over the slopes and beach. It is an option for those who want an island-on-the-mainland without crowds; the price guide is about 76 thousand roubles, the “health” 4.8. Page: Six Senses Ninh Van Bay; article: Six Senses Ninh Van Bay. Six Senses Con Dao is a hotel on the island of Con Dao, a former place of imprisonment and now a national park with clean beaches and turtles; the guide is about 65 thousand, the “health” 5. Hoi An and Da Nang: Nam Hai and Fusion

Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai is a beach resort between Da Nang and Hoi An with villas and private pools: the guide is about 86 thousand roubles, the “health” 5 from 23 reviews. It is a convenient base for those who want to combine a beach with getting to know the old town of lanterns: read about it in our article on the Hoi An lantern festival. Page: The Nam Hai. Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang is a resort with spa programmes included (“all inclusive” format for wellbeing); the health is 4.9 from 62 reviews. More — Fusion Resort Da Nang. For Da Nang and its surroundings see the guides to Ba Na Hills and Hue.

Capella Hanoi: an opera in the centre of the capital

Capella Hanoi is a new hotel in Hanoi inspired by the Art Nouveau era and 1920s opera. It stands in the French Quarter not far from Hoan Kiem Lake and only a three-minute walk from the Opera House. There are only 47 rooms, each decorated in honour of an artist, designer or musician; the hotel has three restaurants listed in the Michelin guide, one of them with a star. The price guide is about 49 thousand roubles, the guest rating 4.8, the “health” 4.9. Guests note only one downside — the small rooms. We imported this hotel into the database and wrote a detailed page: Capella Hanoi.

Banyan Tree Lang Co and others

On the coast of central Vietnam, between Da Nang and Hue, is the Banyan Tree Lang Co resort: villas with pools on the shore of a lagoon and the sea, a guest rating of 4.7, a “health” of 4.8 from 92 reviews and a price guide of about 48 thousand roubles. Page: Banyan Tree Lang Co. Another option in this price tier are colonial hotels like the Sofitel Legend Metropole in Hanoi: more in our article on the Metropole.

What you pay for

In hotels of this class the price is made up of several parts. Isolation: to get there you need a boat, a transfer or a plane, so you won’t meet crowds. Space: villas and grounds of tens of hectares. Nature: national parks, clean water, mountains and jungle. Service: staff know the guest’s preferences, help with activities and dinners. Gastronomy: restaurants with chefs and local produce. Brand: Aman, Six Senses and Four Seasons are reputation. But not everything is perfect: guests write of the weak beach at Amanoi, of the room sizes at Capella and of the fact that the weather on the coast may not match expectations. So look at the reviews and choose the season.

Con Dao: an island with a difficult history

Con Dao is an archipelago in the South China Sea, far from the mainland. For many years prisons stood here, first French, then South Vietnamese, and the island still preserves the memory of the prisoners: it has museums and a cemetery. Today Con Dao is a national park with clean beaches, coral reefs and sea turtle nesting sites, and the prison past sits alongside the Six Senses resort. You can get here only by plane or ferry, and this makes the island quiet. Guests who come here value the chance to combine rest with walks through history: treat the memorial places with respect. As a rule the best season for a trip is February to September, and in the storm period flights may be cancelled, so allow slack in time.

Wellbeing instead of a beach: the wellness-inclusive format

A separate type of luxury in Vietnam are resorts where spa treatments, yoga, dietary meals and consultations are included in the price. Examples in our database are Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang, Namia River Retreat and TIA Wellness Resort: they have high guest ratings (4.8–4.9) and a noticeable number of reviews. This format suits those who want not just to lie by a pool but to come back with a feeling of being reset. Before booking, check exactly what is included in the price: the number of treatments per day, age restrictions and meals. Don’t expect parties: quiet and routine are valued here.

Vietnam, Tet and hotel prices

The highest prices at luxury hotels fall on Tet — the Vietnamese New Year — as well as on long holidays and the winter months. On these days rooms are booked up months ahead, and the minimum stay can be more than one night. If you plan a trip for the holiday, read our guide to Tet 2027 and book in advance. Outside holidays, especially in the shoulder season, prices are noticeably lower, and the weather on the coast in some months is quite comfortable. Saving time on arrival and transfer also costs money: flights during Tet are overcrowded.

Ecology and respect for nature

Many of Vietnam’s luxury resorts are located in protected areas — national parks and nature-reserve bays. This places obligations on guests as well. Don’t touch corals or disturb sea turtles, don’t leave plastic, don’t take objects from nature with you. Choose excursions with trusted operators who observe the parks’ rules. If the hotel organises such programmes, ask how they are arranged and where part of the money goes. Respect for nature is not a formality: it is precisely the clean bays and untouched forests that make these places so expensive.

With children and as a couple

For couples the best are secluded resorts with villas and private pools: Amanoi, Six Senses and The Nam Hai. For families choose resorts with spacious villas and shallow pools and check age restrictions for spas and activities in advance. The roads to isolated resorts can be long: a boat and a transfer are tiring for toddlers, so bring games, water and light snacks. The city Capella Hanoi suits adults better: rooms are small, and the atmosphere is oriented to gastronomy and culture.

How to choose: three questions

What matters more: isolation or the city? For quiet choose Amanoi, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay or Con Dao; for city life Capella Hanoi. Which season? On the coast of central and southern Vietnam the best time is January to August, and in autumn there are typhoons and rain; Hanoi is better in spring and autumn. How are you getting there? For isolated resorts allow time for the boat and transfer. By answering these questions you will narrow the choice to two options. For seasons read the article on Vietnam’s seasons.

How to save

You don’t have to pay the maximum. Look for dates outside the peak: in the shoulder season prices are noticeably lower. Choose a smaller category: the price difference between rooms can be significant. Look at packages with breakfast, dinner or transfer. Consider hotels “a step lower”, for example Da Nang resorts with spa programmes included, where the price is lower and the service high. Book with free cancellation and read the terms: at exclusive resorts they can be strict. And take out insurance covering trip cancellation.

Practical tips

Book several months ahead for January–March and for Tet. Check the transfer: from Cam Ranh airport to Vinh Hy and to Ninh Van Bay you travel by car and boat. Study the country’s rules and etiquette in the articles on etiquette in Vietnam and safety in Vietnam. Bring repellent: on the coast and in the jungle there are mosquitoes even at the best hotels. Prepare payment tools — see payments in Vietnam. And arrange your visa in advance: the rules have changed, read the guide to the e-visa.

Lastly: don’t turn the choice of a hotel into a race for the most expensive. Vietnam has quite a few places where for less money you will get similar impressions if expectations and the character of the place coincide. The main thing is to understand what exactly you are buying: quiet, a view, gastronomy, history or wellbeing — and to choose the hotel that does it better than others. Then the price stops being the main argument, and the trip is remembered not for the sum on the bill but for the moments for which you conceived it.
